Clear aligners are transparent, removable trays that gradually move teeth into planned positions. They have become a popular alternative to conventional braces, but suitability depends on the individual case.
What the assessment covers
Before recommending aligners, an orthodontist evaluates your bite, jaw relationship, crowding, spacing and overall oral health. Gum health and any existing dental work are also considered.
Wear time matters
Aligners work only while they are worn. Most treatment plans call for the trays to be worn for most of the day and removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning.
Retention after treatment
Once teeth reach their planned positions, retainers help keep them there. Your orthodontist will explain the retention plan as part of your treatment discussion.
